Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A young man named Toton Aich was found lying unconscious near his house in the Rabindrapalli area under Patuli police station. Despite being rushed to the hospital by locals, doctors declared him brought dead. According to Toton’s family, the tragedy began on Tuesday—the first day of Baishakh—when Toton went for a picnic with a group of friends. He never returned.
The next day, his motionless body was discovered just a stone’s throw away from his home, sparking outrage and suspicion among neighbors and relatives. The family alleges foul play, pointing fingers at Toton’s friends. They claim he was murdered and have filed a written complaint with the Jadavpur police station. The police have launched an investigation and are trying to reconstruct the events of that night.
Sources reveal that the group went to the Baghajatin Bazar area on Tuesday night, where they allegedly got into an altercation with another group. After that, something went terribly wrong. Toton's friends gave inconsistent statements, further deepening the mystery. Some believe alcohol may have played a role in the incident, as there are unverified claims that Toton was intoxicated. However, his family is firm in their stand, alleging that Toton was beaten to death either during or after the conflict.
The Patuli police are currently examining CCTV footage from the area and questioning Toton’s friends and others who may have been present at the scene. Meanwhile, fear and speculation continue to spread in the locality, with residents demanding justice and clarity on what exactly happened to the young man.
